The mission of GROWTH is to improve patient health and quality of life globally through the development and exchange of evidence-based knowledge and methods. Doctor Evidence created GROWTH (Guideline & Research Organizations Worldwide for Transparency & Harmonization) to promote the spread of evidence-based knowledge through collaboration and data sharing, globally and across all medical disciplines. Doctor Evidence serves as a well-respected resource for creating high quality, methodologically-rigorous, and transparent systematic reviews and other evidence-based medicine products.

GROWTH Licensing & Membership

Eligible organizations include medical professional societies, academic or hospital-based research centers providing this access to their faculty members, and government-funded research organizations (pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers are excluded from GROWTH membership).

Two options are available for annual licensing of Doctor Evidence technologies in GROWTH:

Under both options, these annual licenses include GROWTH membership, which confers unlimited access to the database of digitized studies across a range of health and medical topics, without additional fees. Use of Doctor Evidence software and services solutions enables participating members to conduct PICO-based searches of available evidence, synthesize and summarize data, and draft reports. Doctor Evidence teams provide GROWTH clients with extraction of up-to-date digitized data, as well as optional library, methodology, analytic, and economic services, as requested.

This membership network seeks to encourage cross-organization collaborations between members, sharing of resources, and use of the DRE platforms. Membership in GROWTH also provides additional benefits such as invitations to members-only events and content, such as receptions hosted during Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) conferences or G-I-N North America conferences.

GROWTH Data Configuration

Doctor Evidence’s data extraction processes are far more complex and detailed compared to standard systematic reviews but lead to practically error-free data and enhanced quality. Methodologists draft and refine data configuration protocols (DCPs) in close communication with client staff and guideline panel members. These DCPs become the instructions for clinical analysts performing the evidence extractions, accompanied by software-assisted optical character recognition (OCR) and natural language processing (NLP). The entire process is reviewed and adjudicated by quality control analysts, and the body of evidence is audited by a team dedicated to enhancing the quality of the data. This complex process ensures that all clients can trust that the dataset meets the highest standards for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Methodologists also perform random checks at various stages in these processes. Finally, ontology managers work directly with clients to appropriately “late bind” terms and synonyms from the data and metadata, as appropriate for each analysis (direct meta-analyses, Bayesian or Frequentist network meta-analyses, cohort analyses, subgroup analyses, and sensitivity analyses, as appropriate). These terms can be separated and re-bound differently for the next analysis due to the specificity and granularity of terms and definitions collected, which are captured verbatim from studies. This unique approach offered exclusively by Doctor Evidence, permits greater flexibility and enhances the final results. This ontology management is included, along with all services in the data extraction and quality control process, with Doctor Evidence data extraction.
